To enable or disable activity control at the CommCell, client computer group, client, agent, or subclient levels:

  1. From the CommCell Browser, right-click the CommServe, client computer group, client computer, agent, or subclient, and then click Properties from the short-cut menu.
  2. From the Activity Control tab of the associated Properties dialog box, select or clear option(s), as desired.
  3. Click OK.

View the Job History of a Client Computer Group

To view the job history of a client computer group:

  1. From the CommCell Browser, right-click a client computer whose job history you want to view, click View, and then click Job History.
  2. From Job History Filter dialog box:

Associate or Disassociate the Clients of a Client Computer Group

To associate or disassociate the clients of a client computer group:

  1. From the CommCell Browser, right-click the icon of the appropriate client computer group, and then click Properties from the short-cut menu.
  2. From the General tab of the Client Group dialog box, associate or disassociate clients to and/or from the group.
  3. Click OK.

Create a Client Computer Group

Required Capability: Capabilities and Permitted Actions

To create a client computer group

  1. From the CommCell Browser, right-click the Client Computer Groups icon and then select New Group.
  2. From the General tab of the Create New Client Group dialog box, enter a name for the group.
  3. If desired, enter a description for this group.
  4. Assign clients to the group. This does not remove clients from the All Clients node.

The Client Computer Group is created and ready for use.

Change the Name of a Client Computer Group

Required Capability: Capabilities and Permitted Actions

To change the name of a client computer group:

  1. From the CommCell Browser, right-click the icon of the client computer group that you wish to change the name, and then click Properties from the short-cut menu.
  2. From the General tab of the Client Group dialog box, type a new name in the Group Name box, as desired.
  3. Click OK.

Change SQL Account

Required Capability: Capabilities and Permitted Actions

To change the accounts for the SQL iDataAgents in this client computer group:

  1. From the CommCell Browser, right-click the icon of the appropriate client computer group, and then click Properties from the short-cut menu.
  2. From the Authentication tab of the Client Group dialog box, click Override higher levels settings.
  3. Click either Use Local System Account or Impersonate User.
  4. If Impersonating a user, enter User Name and Password.
  5. Click OK.

Delete a Client Computer Group

Required Capability: Capabilities and Permitted Actions

To delete a client computer group:

  1. From the CommCell Browser, right-click the icon of the client computer group that you want to delete, click All Tasks and then click Delete from the short-cut menu.
  2. A confirmation message appears. Click Yes to delete the client computer group or click No to cancel the deletion.

    If you click Yes, the client computer group is deleted. However, the clients of the group are still available.


Associate or Disassociate a User Group to a CommCell Object

To associate or disassociate a user group to a CommCell entity:

  1. From the CommCell Browser, click the CommServe, client computer group, client computer, agent, MediaAgent, Library, Storage Policy, backup set, subclient, or Shelf media, and then select Properties.
  2. From the Security tab, select the appropriate user groups to which you want to associate to the CommCell object from the Available Groups pane, and then move the user group to the Associated Groups pane.
  3. Click OK.
