wedge.gif (136 bytes)To enable the archiving rules of Archiver Agents:

  1. From the CommCell Browser, right-click the subclient whose archiving rules you want to configure, then click Properties from the shortcut menu.
  2. Click the Rules tab of the Subclient Properties.
  3. Clear the Disable all rules checkbox to enable rules-based migration archiving operations for this subclient.  When this option is selected, no files in this subclient will be archived.
  4. Click OK.

wedge.gif (136 bytes)To configure archiving rules for the File Archiver Agents:

  1. From the CommCell Browser, right-click the subclient whose archiving rules you want to configure, then click Properties from the shortcut menu.
  2. Click the Rules tab of the Subclient Properties.
  3. Click the File Rule tab (if not already selected).
    1. Enable the Archiving Rules.
    2. Configure the Archiving Rules.
  4. Click the Stub Rule tab and configure the Archiving Rules. 
  5. If you are using the Data Classification Enabler:
    1. Click the Folders\Files Owned By tab.
    2. Configure Archiving Rules to include or exclude files that belong to specific users or user groups. Once added, files can be removed.
      Follow the steps to look up a user in Use Account for Data Classification.
    3. Click the File Paths tab.
    4. Configure Archiving Rules to include or exclude specific folders/files. Once added, files can be removed. As appropriate, use wildcards as discussed in the Note for File Paths.
    5. Click the Advanced tab.
    6. Configure Archiving Rules to configure an advanced query string as a rule. Accept the SQL query string displayed on the tab or use the space to edit the string. Optionally, the query can be saved to a file
  6. Click OK to save your changes.

Schedule a Migration Archiving Operation

Before you Begin

  1. From the CommCell Browser, select one of the following:
  2. From the Archive Options dialog box, select when you want to run the job by clicking Schedule.
  3. If you want to access the Advanced Archive Options, click the Advanced button.
  4. After selecting when you want to run the job and any advanced options, click OK.
  5. From the Schedule Details (Schedule Details) dialog box, create a schedule for this operation. See Create a Job Schedule for more information. Click OK to continue.
  6. Your migration archiving operation will execute according to the specified schedule.

The migration archiving process allows you to archive data immediately without having to wait for the scheduled archiving time.

  1. From the CommCell Browser, select one of the following:
  2. From the Archive Options dialog box, select when you want to run the job by clicking Run Immediately.
  3. If you want to access the Advanced Archive Options, click the Advanced button.
  4. After selecting when you want to run the job and any advanced options, click OK. A migration archiving operation is started for selected subclient or archive set and indicates its status in the Job Controller window.
  5. When the migration archiving operation has completed, a confirmation message will be displayed in the Job Controller window.

  3. Click the Advanced button to access the Advanced Archive Options.
  4. Click on the Advanced Archive Options (Startup) tab, and select Startup in suspended state and click OK.
  5. After selecting when you want to run the job and any advanced options, click OK. A migration archiving operation is started for selected subclient or archive set and indicates its status in the Job Controller window.
  6. When the migration archiving operation has completed, a confirmation message will be displayed in the Job Controller window.

Start a Migration Archiving Operation on New Media

Before you Begin

  1. From the CommCell Browser, select one of the following:
  2. From the Archive Options dialog box, select when you want to run the job by clicking Run Immediately.
  3. Click the Advanced button to access the Advanced Archive Options.
  4. Click on the Advanced Archive Options (Media) tab, and select Start new media and click OK.
    If you would like jobs with other Job IDs to use this new media, also select the Allow other schedule to use media set option.
  5. After selecting when you want to run the job and any advanced options, click OK. A migration archiving operation is started for the selected subclient or archive set and indicates its status in the Job Controller window.
  6. When the migration archiving operation has completed, a confirmation message will be displayed in the Job Controller window.

Start a Migration Archiving Operation that Creates a New Index

Before you Begin

  1. From the CommCell Browser, select one of the following:
  2. From the Archive Options dialog box, select when you want to run the job by clicking Run Immediately.
  3. Click the Advanced button to access the Advanced Archive Options dialog box.
  4. Click on the Advanced Archive Options (Data) tab, click Create new index and click OK.
  5. From the Archive Options dialog box, click OK. The migration archiving operation will begin and you can track the progress of the job in the Job Controller window.
  6. When the migration archiving operation has completed, Job Controller displays Completed.
To minimize the number of search cycles for browsing through the archived data, it is recommended to configure an yearly recurring schedule for creating a new index by the following procedure:
  1. From the Commcell Browser, right-click the subclient and select the Properties tab.
  2. Click the Stub Rule tab and select the Disable Default Index Cycle check box.
  3. Set Index Cycle to Every 9999 archive jobs.
  4. To archive a subclient, right-click the subclient and click Archive.
  5. From the Archive Options dialog box, select Schedule and Configure the archiving schedule.
  6. Select Yearly and set it to archive on the First of January.
  7. Click the Advanced button to access the Advanced Archive Options dialog box.
  8. Click on the Advanced Archive Options (Data) tab, click Create new index and click OK.
  9. From the Archive Options dialog box, click OK. The migration archiving operation will occur on the scheduled date and time and will create a new index yearly.

Start a Migration Archiving Operation that Marks the Media Full

  1. From the CommCell Browser, select one of the following:
  2. From the Archive Options dialog box, select when you want to run the job by clicking Run Immediately.
  3. Click the Advanced button to access the Advanced Archive Options.
  4. Click on the Advanced Archive Options (Media) tab, and select Mark media full after successful operation and click OK.
  5. After selecting when you want to run the job and any advanced options, click OK. A migration archiving operation is started for selected subclient or archive set and indicates its status in the Job Controller window.
  6. When the migration archiving operation has completed, a confirmation message will be displayed in the Job Controller window.

Start a Migration Archiving Operation with a Set Job Priority

  4. Click on the Advanced Archive Options (Startup) tab, and select Change Priority and then enter a value. Click OK to continue.
  5. After selecting when you want to run the job and any advanced options, click OK. A migration archiving operation is started for selected subclient or archive set and indicates its status in the Job Controller window.
  6. When the migration archiving operation has completed, a confirmation message will be displayed in the Job Controller window.

Start a Migration Archiving Operation with VaultTracking enabled

Before you Begin

Required Capability: Capabilities and Permitted Actions

  1. From the CommCell Browser, select one of the following:
  2. From the Archive Options dialog box, select when you want to run the job by clicking Run Immediately.
  3. Click the Advanced button to access the Advanced Archive Options.
  4. Click on the Vault Tracking tab, and select the vault tracking options you want to use and click OK.
  5. After selecting when you want to run the job and any advanced options, click OK. A migration archiving operation is started for selected subclient or archive set and indicates its status in the Job Controller window.
  6. When the migration archiving operation has completed, a confirmation message will be displayed in the Job Controller window.
