Register CommCell

Use this dialog box to register a new Cell in the CommNet Server.

Display Name

The display name for the Cell. This name is displayed in the CommNet Browser.

CommCell Interface Name

The full interface name (e.g., cell.company.com) or the IP address of the CommServe host machine (i.e., Cell).

This interface name will be used to establish network connectivity between the CommNet Server and the Cell.

The interface can be different from the interface used to install CommServe/CommNet Server software, if the CommServe/CommNet Server computer has multiple network interfaces.

CommCell Client Name

The name by which the CommServe client is identified in the CommCell Console.

If the CommServe computer (i.e., Cell) is operating behind a firewall, then this client name will be used to establish network connectivity between the CommNet Server and the Cell. Ensure that you provide the exact client name of the CommServe computer.

Connection Type

Select the connection type. Choose from the following options:

CommNet Interface Name

The network interface name in the CommNet Server that must be used to communicate with the CommCell.

This option is useful if you have multiple network interface cards NIC) on the CommNet Server. In such a situation, you can configure some of the CommCells to communicate through one interface, while others can be configured to use a different interface.

Collect Primary Storage Data

Select this option to collect SRM data from the CommCell during the initial CommCell synchronization. If not selected, the corresponding data will not be retrieved from the CommCell, and the Primary Storage Data Growth Report cannot be run against this CommCell. Note that this option is configured to collect SRM data during the initial CommCell synchronization only. Regardless of the option's configuration, SRM data will be collected at the times specified in the Data Collection Policy dialog box.

Collect Media and VaultTracker Data

Select this option to collect media and VaultTracker data from the CommCell during the initial CommCell synchronization. If not selected, the corresponding data will not be retrieved from the CommCell, and the Media Management Media Information and Media Management VaultTracker reports cannot be run for this CommCell, nor will VaultTracker pending actions be displayed in the VaultTracker Action Monitor. Note that this option is configured to collect media and VaultTracker data during the initial CommCell synchronization only. Regardless of the option's configuration, the media and VaultTracker data will be collected at the times specified in the Data Collection Policy dialog box.
