Yes. The information that is collected includes only standard counter and monitoring results and does not include any user-specific data, such as policy or client names. The XML upload file is transferred via HTTPS to the secure, central reporting Web site. In order to use this service, the CommServe must have access to the Internet either directly or through a proxy client.
Yes. The information is stored in the "rptSurveyLog" table in the CommServe Database.
The survey reporting process was designed to improve automated feedback on active usage to the Product and Engineering groups so that we can improve functionality, operations, and usability.
Yes. This is an “opt-in” service that is activated by the CommCell Administrator. If the CommCell Diagnostics and Usage option is disabled (cleared), then the summary data will no longer be collected and logged in the CommServe. Collection and uploads run only when the service is activated.
Information about which scripts ran and when the information is uploaded appears in the CVD.log file.
To see a log of script activity:
When you activate Metrics Reporting - Diagnostics and Usage for the first time, data is collected and then uploaded within the next hour. Once the feature is activated, collections run at the same time every 24 hours, and then once every 7 days, the upload is compiled and sent to the secure reporting site.
To run data collection, and then send the results immediately:
The Diagnostics and Usage dialog box appears.
Yes. The upload process is resilient and self-managing. If the survey upload fails, then the service will try to upload again after 60 minutes. Upload failures are reported in the CVD.log file.
No. To participate in Metrics Reporting - Diagnostics and Usage with an offline CommCell, you must now select a proxy client for download/upload through the Diagnostics and Usage dialog box. For instructions, see Metrics Reporting - Diagnostics and Usage - Getting Started.
