The following section provides information on some of the troubleshooting scenarios related to 1-Touch Recovery:

Solution

The silent install fails during the recovery process. Open another virtual terminal and check the silent install log file. The log file is available at the following location:

/tmp/.gxsetup/silent_install.*****

Here ***** is the cvpkgadd process ID.

Identify and correct the problem. Restart the recovery process using the /init command.

Unable to retrieve the job details <corresponding job ID:XX> This error message appears during the 1-Touch Recover if the file system restore job on the CommServe is killed or failed. Use the /init command to restart the file system restore job.
Error 17: Cannot mount selected Partition. The system fails to boot because the boot disk is changed before restore. Perform the following steps to boot the client:
  1. If the boot disk has changed, make sure it is selected as a bootable disk in the BIOS settings.
  2. Edit the grub menu during boot. Change the root (hd#) entry to use the proper root disk.
  3. Continue to boot.
  4. Once the system is up, user can run the grub-install to make the fix permanent.
1-Touch recovery failed because of mismatch between the configurations of backed up and restored systems. This error occurs when the vendor information for a drive is not available. Typically the vendor information is not available for a flash drive or pen drive. To resolve this issue, make sure that no flash drives or pen drives are connected to the client computer before starting the 1-Touch recovery.
