Install Requirements |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||
The Active
Directory
iDataAgent is installed on Windows Active Directory domain controllers. (This computer is referred to as the Client computer in this
install procedure.) Furthermore, the Active Directory iDataAgent should be installed on one domain controller in each domain where the Active Directory iDataAgent protection is needed. Each child domain requires a separate Active Directory iDataAgent installation. You can find out which computers are domain controllers through the active directory users and computers MMC snap-in. For every domain or child domain, look at the listed machines in the domain controllers container and be sure to install the agent on at least one of the listed domain controllers if protection is needed. Verify that the computer in which you wish to install the software satisfies the minimum requirements specified in System Requirements - Active Directory iDataAgent and in System Requirements - Microsoft Windows File System iDataAgent. The following procedure describes the steps involved in installing the Windows File System and Active Directory iDataAgents. If you choose to install multiple components simultaneously, refer to the appropriate procedures for installation requirements and steps specific to the component. Note that when you install multiple components, the sequence of the install steps may vary. Review the following Install Requirements before installing the software: General
Firewall
Multi Instancing
Agent SpecificIf your install requires the software to be installed on a domain controller, the install program checks your operating system for domain controller status. If your computer is not a domain controller, a message informs you of the need to abort this installation. User PrivilegesReview the table below to identify the privileges you will require for installing/upgrading the Active Directory iDataAgent.
Domain Admin – A user that belongs to Domain Administrator group for that domain ADAM Admin – A user that belongs to Roles\Administrator group (container) of configuration partition for that ADAM instance. LDS Admin – A user that belongs to Roles\Administrator group (container) of configuration partition for that LDS instance. Local Admin – A user that belongs to Local Administrators group. NOTES

Click the Specify list of machine across the firewall option and then
specify the list of hosts separated from this computer by a firewall. Make sure
you correctly describe whether the firewall allows two-way communication (but on
