Control Panel


The Control Panel offers several configurable parameters for the entire CommCell. The following table lists each of these parameters and provides links to the associated information.

Alerts

NA Opens the Alert configuration wizard which allows you to configure alerts for the CommCell.

Array Management

NA Provided the option to view, add, or modify the access information for an array to be used for SnapProtect.

Audit Trail

NA

Operations performed with this feature are recorded in the Audit Trail. See Audit Trail for more information.

Automatic Update Configuration

NA Allows you to setup automatic updates for the CommCell which includes the FTP download and CommServe and UNIX cache information.

Billing Configuration

NA Allows you to associate CommCell objects to a Billing Department.

Browse/Search/Recovery

NA Allows you to set global browse and recovery settings.

CommNet Properties

NA Displays the CommNet Agent version and update information as well as the CommNet Server name(s) when the CommNet Agent is installed on the CommServe. Additionally, users can unregister the CommCell from the CommNet Server(s), which will prevent the CommServe from communicating with the CommNet Server(s). For more information, see CommNet Properties. Note that this option is not enabled on the Control Panel unless the CommCell is registered to a CommNet Server.

Custom Calendars

NA Allows you to add, modify or delete custom calendars.

DR Backup Settings

NA Allows you to configure the Disaster Recovery Backups on the CommServe.

Data Interface Pair

NA Open the Data Interface Pairs wizard which lets you to define the interface pairs that must be used between any two components in the CommCell.

EZ Operations

NA Launches the EZ Operation toolbar.

Email & IIS Server

Email Server

Allows you to setup the Mail Server and other options for sending alerts.

IIS Server

Allows you to configure to launch Books Online from the CommCell Console's  icon.

Provides options to setup the global filters to be used in the CommCell.

Media Expiration

Allows you to establish thresholds for storage devices used in the CommCell.

Provides options to set the Job Alive check Interval, Job Preemption Control and Job Priorities.

Chunk Size

Allows you to establish the chunk size on the media for each Agent.

SCSI Error Translator

Allows you to translate SCSI error messages returned from a library.

Win Error Translator

Allows you to translate Windows error messages.

BarCode Patterns

Allows you to add, modify, delete barcode patterns for media used in the CommCell.

Name Management

NA Provides options to change the names of CommCell computers. See Name Management.

Operation Window

NA Allows you to define the operation windows in the CommCell.

Set Holidays

NA Allows you set the holidays in which schedules will not be executed.

SQL iDA Configuration

NA Allows you to set the user account for all SQL Server iDataAgents within the CommCell.

SRM Advisory Types

NA Allows you to enable/disable advisory types for the selected SRM Agent. Each Agent has different type of advisories associated with it.

SRM Options

General

Allows you to set time Interval for Data Consolidation.

Data Aging

Allows you to to enable/disable the Data Aging property for the supported SRM agents/components and set the number of days for which the data is retained before it is automatically aged.

SRM Reporting Credentials

NA Allows you to modify the SRM Reporting Server credentials configured during SRM Server installation.

SRM Reporting Service Accounts

NA Allows you to add/delete users/user groups permitting browse access for SRM reports.

System

General

Provides the following options:
  • Thresholds for event logs and database space check intervals.
  • CommCell Console connection timeout.

Change Password

Allows you to change the media and network password.

Advanced

Allows automatic access to the Maintenance Advantage Website using the pre-populated user credentials.

Troubleshooting Settings

NA Allows you to establish the FTP and Email information for sending log files.

User Preferences

General

Allows you to choose the web browser that the software must use to open HTML files, if different from the default browser configured on the computer.

An option to displays the floating Restore Progress bar during a restore operation.

Another option allows hiding the clients that have been deconfigured.

For User Preferences to take effect, the user must log out and log back in to the CommCell Console.

Job Filter

Provides the ability to set the job retention option.

For User Preferences to take effect, the user must log out and log back in to the CommCell Console.

Event Filter

Provides options to customize the display in the Event Viewer. For more information, see Event Viewer.

For User Preferences to take effect, the user must log out and log back in to the CommCell Console.

Volume Explorer

NA Provides options to configure disk volumes in the CommCell.

Workstation Settings

NA Allows to enable/disable data protection operations, including scheduling, for all Workstation Backup clients in the CommCell.
